My love for photography first started in a high school darkroom, but it took several years and life experiences before I took this love to a professional level. After losing a parent a few years before my own wedding, my desire to capture special moments became not only a passion but a necessity. I discovered a newfound sense of presence and purpose, as well as a desire to bring back that childlike joy that so many of us lose in adulthood.
As your photographer, you can count on an experience and photos filled with intention, joy, play, and warmth. I can't wait to photograph your story beautifully.
01. CONNECTION
Photos are all about connection. They capture the little glances, the laughter, the tear, and all the moments that words can’t always express. And we all know that being yourself in front of a camera isn't always the easiest. My job is to help you feel both comfortable and confident in front of the camera, so that your true connection always shines through.
02. COLLABORATION
I view photography a lot like telling a story. Although I may provide some direction here and there, the story cannot exist without you. Throughout our work together, you can expect communication and collaboration from start to finish. Your ideas and personality shape every frame so that all your final images feel authentic and personal.
03. CREATIVITY
I welcome any and all new ideas to the table. Want to run around a field in your wedding dress? I'll be right there behind you, chasing you with the camera.
- reading a looooong book on a rainy night
- season changes (fall is my favorite though)
- the most perfect, golden hour lighting
- browsing through old photo albums
- Sunday morning coffee walks around Old Town Alexandria
- puppy snuggles on the couch after a long day
- long runs by the water
- weekend trips to Chicago
- never skipping dessert
- all things Lululemon
- Thai food takeout on a Saturday night
- the perfect sunset
- fresh flowers from Trader Joe's
If the thought of stepping in front of the camera makes you a little antsy, here's what you can expect in our time together:
I've said it once and I'll say it again - photos should be FUN! And you know what's not fun? Standing still in a stiff pose for long periods of time. So in sessions with me, you can expect movement and play that makes you forget that the camera is even there.
My style leans a little more towards prompting vs. posing; however, I do like to incorporate a bit of each throughout your photos. Prompting typically involves me providing an activity or motion - run around the field with each other, kiss attack her face, run up and give him a big bear hug, etc. These activities allow you to just be with each other and produce natural, joyful images. On the other hand, posing gives us more of our classic portraits (hello Christmas card). A combination of both posed and prompted moments keeps your session active and engaging while ultimately providing a final gallery with a ton of variety that truly showcases your personalities.
